Matt was born in Windsor, Ontario on 07 October 1946 and it is with great sadness that we acknowledge the passing of Matt in Quartsville, Arizona on 29 January 2017.  Matt was doing what he loved, travelling in his motorhome with Elizabeth.  His is predeceased by his mother, father and brother.  He is survived by his wife Elizabeth of 43 years, sons Richard and Matthew, his daughter Pamela, son-in-law Tom, grandchildren Marlei, Wade, Justin, Robyn and Ethan, three sisters Penny, Heather and Candy, numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Matt served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1962 until 1981.  Initially he was a member of 2 PPCLI until his transfer to the Military Police.  In 1981, he realized that he wanted to raise his family in Chilliwack, British Columbia.  Accordingly, he retired from the military and worked for Correction Services of Canada from 1981 until 2002.

Matt was a very strong supporter of the PPCLI Association, serving in multiple leadership roles ranging from President of the Fraser Valley Branch to Editor for the Association Newsletter.  Matt assumed the task Editor for the Newsletter in 2009.  His dedication, loyalty and outstanding work in support of the Regiment and Association was second to none.  To quote a family member.

“He was a big teddy bear of a man with a heart as big as he was. Matt loved his family unconditionally, and his country could not have asked for a more patriotic citizen. His dedication went without question. He will be sorely missed by so many, but through us all he will live on. God Bless”
