Grateful for the life he lived, it is with sadness that we announce the passing of Guy Sasseville, aged 82.

Guy was born on August 9, 1940 in the Armstrong township in a house close to Earlton Ontario, the oldest of 3 children born to Thomas and Lillian Sasseville (Ouimet). While growing up he lived with many aunts and uncles and attended Cadet camps as a teenager.
Guy joined the army when he was 17 which turned into a 23 year career. He learned his trade as a mechanic and joined the Airborne and completed 70 jumps. His postings included Kingston, Wainwright and Edmonton. Guy went on numerous schemes including time spent in m Cypress, Jamaica, Alaska, Eskimo Point (building an airstrip), Inuvik and Quebec during the FLQ Crisis as well as two United Nations tours in Egypt. The price of his service to Canada meant months away from home and his family.

Guy would tell you that the smartest decision he made was falling in love with a young lady that worked at RCE Engineers at Camp Wainwright, Melba. They were married February 13, 1960 when he was 19 years old. They were married for 63 years and were the proud parents of five children, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

At home, he loved to tinker in the garage, make knives, craft silver rings and make wood beds. He was an avid gun collector and enjoyed hunting. Guy also loved to read and could talk for hours about world wars and historical events.

Left to remember his life are his closest family. His wife of 63 years, Melba, his children, Marcella Sasseville, Lillian Green, Gary (Marlene) Sasseville, Sandra (Don Ray) Sasseville and Jeff Sasseville. His grandchildren, Jordan Green, Amanda (Josh) Scott, Nathan (Holly) Sasseville, Christina Sasseville, Jenny (Brett) Regnier, Erin Schulz, Megan Schulz, Kaitlin (Joel) Deschiffart, Danica (Volodymyr) Schulz.

His Great- Grandchildren – Alayah Green, Kasen Scott, Markus Scott and Bennett Scott.

Guy was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Sasseville and Lillian Southards, his brother William Sasseville, his sister Marcella Sasseville, father and mother- in-law Sam and Louise Aykroyd, brother-in-laws James Aykroyd and Richard Aykroyd (Pat) and sister-in-law Norma Brown (Bob).
