Former Drum Major The Canadian Grenadier Guards
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Francis (Frank) James Duffy on January 12, 2024, at the age of 93. Served with the PPCLI, later joining The Canadian Grenadier Guards, where he served in many roles within the Regiment, he was our last Drum Major of Regimental Band and Corps of Drums before it was folded. He was an active member of the Sergeants Mess and the Regiment for many years. When the Regimental Band was folded into the Garrison Band in 1974 Frank left the regiment and join the joined the Royal Canadian Naval taking his commission and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
Frank was our last Drum Major and the first member of the Regiment to wear the Drum Major’s Sash, displayed in the Sergeants Mess.
Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family and many friends.
He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
The family will receive condolences from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Rideau Funeral Home: 4275 Blvd des Sources, Dollard-des-Ormeaux. Memorial service to follow from 3pm to 4pm.
