24 Jan 1950 – 19 Mar 2024 (74)
2 PPCLI

David MacDonald passed away peacefully on the morning of March 19, 2024, in his 74th year. He was born to John D. and Theresa (Curtis) MacDonald in Neil’s Harbour in 1950.

David was a quiet, exceedingly generous man who loved nothing more than spending time with friends and family and telling stories. He will be remembered as someone who would give anything he had to help someone else in need.

David was a proud veteran of the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and the Canadian Airborne Regiment who served overseas in support of the United Nations peacekeeping operation in Cyprus (UNFICYP). Those who knew David, knew that he cherished his memories of his time in the Canadian Armed Forces and the bonds he made with those with whom he served.

David will be remembered by his son John (Amy), his four siblings, Colleen (Lowell), Gerard, Lisa and Ian. He will also be remembered by his nephews, William, Colin (April) and John Duncan.

Funeral arrangements are in the care of JM Jobes Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will occur in the summer at the Aspy Bay United Church. Details will be forthcoming.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Veteran’s charity of your choice.
