BURCHAT, Nathaniel

August 17, 1999 – December 18, 2024

Nathaniel Burchat, 25 years old, son of Marina and the late Gerard, passed away suddenly on December 18, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta. His formative years were spent in Tramore, Ontario. He was the grandson of Helen and Benedict Burchat and the late Angelo and Laura Tomasini, the godson of Sylvia and Robert Burchat.

Nathaniel will be dearly missed by his siblings Reverend Anthony Burchat, John (Miriam), Joseph (Colleen), Catherine (John), Gabriel (Kristen), James (Stephanie), William (Emily), Anne and Jeremy (Mary Grace). Uncle Nano leaves behind many cherished nephews and nieces. He will be keenly missed by aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. After high school, Nathaniel proudly joined the Canadian military in the footsteps of his father and three older brothers. He served overseas with the PPCLI regiment. Tragically, Nathaniel faced significant challenges in the last several years. He suffered with mental health difficulties and epileptic seizures. His health worsened after the death of his father in October 2023. He was medically discharged in January 2024 and remained in Edmonton.

Nathaniel had a zest for life that was remarkable. Life was never dull whenever he was home. He was an excellent hunter and gladly helped with the farm chores. His strength and fearlessness were balanced by his kindness and generosity. He was relentless at the skills that he set his mind to and thrived under physically demanding challenges. Our family invites you to join us in remembering and honouring Nathaniel’s life through prayer and the offering of Catholic masses for his eternal soul. Most sorrowful and immaculate heart of Mary, pray for us.

Final arrangements entrusted to Zohr Family Funeral Home Killaloe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, Round Lake Centre on Tuesday, January 7th, 2024 at 11:00 am. Spring interment St. Casimir’s Cemetery.
