It is with sorrow that the family of Donald announce his unexpected passing in Edmonton at the age of 33 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Lily Melsted; father, Darrell Melsted; mother, Deborah Clark; brother, Jordan (Kirsty) Melsted. He will also be missed by his extended family, and friends.

He was predeceased by his grandparents Axel & Eleanor Melsted.

Don was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 7, 1991 and grew up in Arnes, Manitoba. Don enjoyed spending time with his brother Jordan and cousins Brayden and Bryce. From chasing deer to scooping jacks, the cousins grew up together enjoying every aspect of life. Don was an avid reader and could always be found with his nose in a book. From War and Peace to The Alchemist, his love of reading had no end.

Don’s lifelong ambition was to join the military and serve his country. In 2008, he’d did just that and joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry where he earned numeracy medals for serving and spending time in Afghanistan.

His daughter Lily was the apple of his eye, and he would spent countless hours hiking, making forts, having campfires and being a dad.

Cremation has taken place and Don will be laid to rest in Arnes, Manitoba next to his grandparents Axel & Eleanor. A private internment will take place at a later date. The family appreciates your understanding at this time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Don’s name may be made to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Association or to their sister website; The Hamilton Gault Memorial Fund. The HGMF is a charitable entity which supports and assist students with educational bursaries, several PPCLI Cadet Corps, Mental Health and Suicide Awareness Training and maintaining major Regimental memorials. https://www.arbormemorial.ca/en/evergreen/obituaries/donald-melsted/136694.html
