3 PPCLI, PPCLI Battle School and Sky Hawks
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our father, brother, friend, Charles Gordon Watt, born August 12, 1953 in Fort William, Ontario. He slipped away on February 2, 2024, at the age of 70, in Lloydminster Hospital after a difficult fight with chronic illness.
Charles leaves to mourn his children, Tammy (Jason), Monika (Daniel), Jonathan and Neisa and families; brothers, Doug (Keiko), Ron, and John (Darlene); step-brothers, Sheldon and Kelly (Wendy); his step-mom, Anna; his dear friends, and many brothers at PPCLI.
Charles was predeceased by his mom, Teresa; his dad, John; and siblings, Don, and Sharon; as well as Sharon’s husband, Blaine.
A private family gathering will be held in memory of Charles at a later date.
Charles loved the outdoors; hunting, trapping and fishing at every opportunity as a young person and later as a retiree. He was in the Canadian Armed Forces with 3PPCLI from 1972 to 1985, PPCLI battle School 1985 to 1989, and with Sky Hawks, the CAF skydiving team, in 1988. He was proud to have served his country, loved his comrades, and shared many stories about jumping and other experiences, trying to focus on the positive and always trying to find the humor. He worked as an uncertified carpenter and handyman, doing odd jobs for friends, and became a certified Heavy equipment operator. He had so many plans, and always dreamed to head out to the bush to find a trapline of his own. He always had a twinkle in his eye, a chuckle, and a mischievous sense of humor. He loved his children and did what he could to stay connected whenever he was able.
He greatly appreciated the personal care received from staff at his residence at Pioneer House, as well as at the Lloydminster hospital. Charles recognized all the efforts to help him through his struggles. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, please donate to one of those facilities, or the following local charities.
