Obituary of Bernard Nelson Cote
94 years. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bernard at Windsor Regional Hospital Metropolitan Campus on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He leaves behind his grieving family – his beloved wife of 68 years, Bea (nee Hewko). Loving father of Jill Carlone (Mike), Robert, Michael (Gloria). Loving Papa to Meaghan Bonn (Geoff), Shannon, Ryan (Marta), Robert, Andrew (Victoria), Jakob (Sophia) and Rachel. Great grandfather to Rhaelynne, Robert, Leroy and Lawrence Cote, Leo and Madeleine Bonn. Survived by siblings Joan Rivait (Leo), Bob Cote (Helen), Patricia Hunter (late Tom). Predeceased by siblings, John “Mac” Cote, Alice MacQueen (late Villiers), Bernadette Cote (late Jeff), George Cote (late Maryanne), Gerry Ouellette (late Bob), Connie St. Pierre (late Joe) and Glen Cote (late Stella). Brother-in-law to Bob and Pauline Hewko. Bernard was a proud soldier. He served with the 2nd Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) during the Korean War (Battle of Kapyong). He retired from the Windsor Detroit Tunnel after 36 years. A special thank you to Dr. Jacqueline Malette, Dr Andrea Cervi and her staff at the cancer clinic, Dr. Singh, Dr Dhar and Dr Paul Ziter. Also a special thank you to friends of Bernard, Vince Courtney and Stan Renaud. At Bernard’s request, cremation has taken place. Memorial Visitation will be held at Windsor Chapel (South Chapel), 3048 Dougall Avenue (519-253-7236) on Thursday, September 28, 2023 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Veteran Service under the auspices of W.V.M.S.C will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a Memorial Service to Celebrate the Life of Bernard. If desired, memorial donations to the Windsor Cancer Centre Foundation would be appreciated by the family. www.windsorchapel.com
