With overwhelming sadness, we announce the passing of Sgt. Jordan Mercer early Saturday, October 26. Jordan was a proud active member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Jordan’s 18 years of dedicated service began in Shilo, Manitoba where he served with the Second Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) and completed a tour in Afghanistan during the heat of conflict. For the last 12 years, Jordan served in the Canadian Special Forces, Canadian Joint Incident Response Unit (CJIRU). His service to his country has always and will forever be held with extraordinary pride in the hearts of his family.
Jordan leaves behind his loving wife and partner of ten years, Kara Mercer (Euale) and their two energetic and wonderful boys; Joseph (6) and Theodore (3). Also left to mourn are parents Lynda Rideout-Mercer and Patrick Mercer, brothers Mathew, Adam (Cindy) Mercer, in-laws Marjorie and David Euale, brother-in-law Blake Euale, his beloved Aunt Janice Rideout and nieces and nephews Travis, Kerrington, Hudson and Harrison.
Jordan is predeceased by Grand Parents Gilbert and Mildred Rideout, and Annie and Matthew Mercer of CBS Newfoundland and is lovingly remembered by all his Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.
A military funeral will be held at the CFB Trenton chapel on November 9 at 2 p.m. (91 Namao Dr, Trenton). All who loved Jordan and would like to honour his memory are welcome to attend. A reception will follow at the Jr. Ranks (106 Yukon Street) where the family hopes people will gather to celebrate Jordan’s remarkable life.
