Date of birth: 26 August 1926
Date of passing: 20 August 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Carl on August 20, 2023, just days shy of his 97th birthday. Beloved husband of the late Beryl, whom he adored greatly. Dearly loved father of Helen (Bob), Laurie (Greg), Ian (Wendy), Michele, Sam (Sheila), Connie (Ken), and Kathy (Jim). Cherished “Papa” to his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loyal brother of the late Mary, Joe, Jean and Tony. Survived by his brothers Ben and Rick. He will be fondly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carl was a veteran of the Korean War and WWII. He served in the Battle of Kapyong, RCA PTE 2 PPCLI. Carl was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 350 in Port Dalhousie. He spent every Saturday at Scorecard Harry’s with a pint of ale in his hand. Carl enjoyed traveling, golfing, and listening to classic country music. He was an avid member of the Port Dalhousie horseshoe and dart leagues. He is known and loved for his sense of humour, his kind heart and his love for decaf black coffee. Carl knew how to brighten any room with a witty joke or a silly jig. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Carl’s family would like to sincerely thank Dr. Jayawardene and the staff at Royal Henley Retirement Community. As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. If desired, memorial donations may be made to The Royal Canadian Legion or to a charity of your choice.
